All acrylic boards are MMA monomers. The chemical name of MMA is methyl methacrylate. MMA monomer
is a clear and transparent liquid, which looks like water. Conversion to a solid material, called a polymer,
requires the addition of a catalyst and heating.
There are basically two kinds of acrylic plates, extrusion plate and pouring plate, which mainly refers to the
processing technology of manufacturing plates. Extruded acrylic plates have excellent thermoforming properties,
but extruded plates are brittle than pouring plates. Due to the poor cracking resistance, chemical corrosion
resistance and hot water circulation resistance of the extruded plate, it is not suitable for the production of
bathtub. Pouring acrylic weight material uses MMA liquid to pour MMA into the glass cavity and polymerize
it in a heated oven. This process is called "cavity pouring plate".
Sanitary ware grade cast acrylic plate is a special grade plate, which is specially used for the production of
bathtub and other sanitary ware. It has the same high molecular weight as the standard pouring board, but
there is crosslinking. Crosslinking is a special chemical reaction, which can improve the resistance of the
board to household chemical cleaning agents and other solvents. Through careful selection of dyes, sanitary
ware grade plates can also be dyed to ensure that the whole surface part of the final bathtub has the same
color and remains unchanged for many years. The general acrylic board has poor hot water resistance, easy
to fade, lose luster and even crack.
It is generally believed that plastics are worse than traditional building materials, and you may feel that acrylic
is easy to be scratched. Sanitary ware grade acrylic plate is the hardest of commonly used plastics. According
to iso2093 / 2 method, its Rockwell hardness is 102 and its burcol hardness is 55. The hardness of sanitary
ware grade acrylic plate is 9h, and the hardness of sanitary ware grade acrylic plate is similar to that of polished
aviation group aluminum.
